St. Anthony of Padua was founded August 10, 1866 as a mission of St. Paul Parish in Hingham. Fr. John Roddan was the first priest to minister to the mission church of St. Anthony and the congregation that worshiped there. Construction began on what was the original Church (pictured below) in 1875. It was located on South Main Street, across from where the rectory currently stands.

On August 17, 1886, St. Anthony's was established as its own independent Parish with its own mission churches in North Scituate (eventually, the now-closed St. Frances Xavier Cabrini church and parish) and in Scituate Harbor (St. Mary of the Nativity church and parish, still in existence).
Our current church building located on Summer Street (pictured below) was built in 1964 during the pastorate of Fr. Joseph Brennan.

St. Anthony's Church has a statue with a unique history: the sign below it details that this statue of the Saint, known for finding lost things, was itself lost on its journey to Cohasset Saint Anthony's Church from Portugal. Many years later, the staute was found and was placed inside the church, where it currently remains. The statue is carved from a solid piece of wood and brought from the Azores to Cohasset.
The Saint Anthony Parish Hall was built in 1999 and currently houses the offices of our Collaborative Pastoral Center and our religious education classrooms.
In 2019 St. Anthony of Padua Parish became part of the Christ by the Sea Collaborative with St. Mary of the Assumption Parish in Hull with a shared Collaborative staff, but remains its own distinct parish.
St. Mary of the Assumption was founded in 1890 as a mission of St. Paul's Parish in Hingham. The original St. Mary Church, the Mother Church for all of Hull, was located on the corner of Atlantic Ave and Seaview Ave, near the Hull Town Hall.

St. Mary's was established as its own independant Parish in 1938.
Because of the geographic length of Hull, while always one Parish under the Patronage of the Assumption of Mary, at its height, the Parish would come to consist of two other additional church buildings by which the Parish could best serve the whole of the Peninsula: St. Ann Church on Samoset Ave and A Street (pictured below), dedicated on July 25, 1915,

and St. Mary of the Bay Church on Highland Ave (pictured below) in the Allerton neighborhood of the Hull peninsula. Dedicated on June 28, 1928, it replaced the original St. Mary of the Bay church located at Stony Beach.

In the 1980's, the need to consolidate the three worship spaces became apparent, and the central location of Saint Ann was selected to be the sole church building and worship site for the whole of Hull. The old St. Mary of the Assumption Church and St. Mary of the Bay Church, were sold and have since been converted to private residences.
In the early 2000's, with the hopes of adding additional hall and function space, St. Ann Church underwent an interior renovation and reconfiguration and the church entrance was relocated from its original James Street location to its current loction on Samoset Ave.
