Regina Caeli

Typically priests and all who say the Liturgy of the Hours end their day with Compline, also known as Night Prayer. It is a long standing tradition to end this last prayer of the day by singing or reciting a Marian Antiphon which is a chant asking the Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede for us. During the Easter season, from Easter Sunday through Pentecost, it is traditional to sing the Regina Caeli which focuses our joy on the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who Mary brought into the world.

Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia. 
Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia. 
Resurrexit, sicut dixit, alleluia. 
Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia.

English Translation 
Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia. 
For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia. 
Has risen, as he said, alleluia. 
Pray for us to God, alleluia.
